Pink Butterflies Kalanchoe, botanically listed as Kalanchoe ‘Pink Butterflies’, is a live succulent plant selected for its distinctive form and ornamental appeal. Natural color, size, form, and presentation may vary slightly with season, maturity, and growing conditions.

Morphological Characteristics

Kalanchoe ‘Pink Butterflies’ is a striking and colorful succulent hybrid, believed to be a variegated mutation of Kalanchoe x houghtonii—itself a hybrid between Kalanchoe daigremontiana and Kalanchoe delagoensis. It is best known for its brilliant pink plantlets that form along the edges of its long, narrow leaves, resembling clusters of fluttering butterflies—hence the name “Pink Butterflies.”

The main plant features tall, upright stems with elongated, lance-shaped leaves that are typically green or gray-green with subtle mottling or purple undertones. The pink “butterflies” are actually non-photosynthetic foliar plantlets, which grow along the margins of mature leaves, giving the plant its ornamental charm. While these plantlets are more delicate and often sterile compared to other Kalanchoe offsets, they are the main decorative appeal.

Growth Habits

Kalanchoe ‘Pink Butterflies’ is a fast-growing, upright succulent that can reach up to 60–90 cm (24–36 inches) in height, forming tall clusters of vertical stems. As a tropical succulent, it thrives in bright environments and prefers warm, dry conditions.

Over time, older leaves may drop off, and the plant becomes leggy unless pruned or encouraged to branch. The plant is monocarpic—each stem will die after flowering, though it will produce offsets or plantlets before doing so.

Maintenance Points

Lighting: Requires bright indirect sunlight to full sun. More sunlight enhances the vivid pink color of the plantlets. Indoors, place near a sunny window.

Watering: Use the “soak and dry” method. Water thoroughly, but let the soil dry out between waterings. Avoid waterlogging, as this can cause stem and root rot.

Soil: Use a well-draining cactus or succulent potting mix. Adding perlite, pumice, or coarse sand improves drainage.

Temperature: Ideal range is 18–27°C (65–81°F). It is not frost-tolerant—protect from temperatures below 10°C (50°F). Overwinter indoors in colder climates.

Fertilization: Apply a balanced liquid succulent fertilizer monthly during spring and summer. Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can reduce coloration.

Pruning: Trim leggy stems to encourage bushier growth. Remove old or damaged leaves and spent plantlets.

Potting: Best grown in medium to large pots with good drainage. Use terra cotta pots for better breathability.

Reproduction Method

Unlike its parent species, the pink plantlets of Kalanchoe ‘Pink Butterflies’ are often non-viable or have limited rooting ability, but it can still be propagated through stem cuttings or occasionally leaf cuttings.

1. Stem Cuttings:

Cut a healthy stem about 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) long.

Let the cut end callus for a few days.

Plant in dry succulent soil, water lightly after a few days, and then sparingly until roots develop.

2. Plantlets (with caution):

Gently place pink plantlets on moist succulent mix in bright light.

They may root, but success is limited compared to standard kalanchoe types.

Additional Tips

Pest Control: Watch for mealybugs, scale, and aphids. Treat with neem oil or insecticidal soap if needed.

Air Circulation: Good airflow helps prevent fungal issues, especially in humid environments.

Overwintering: Reduce watering in winter and keep the plant in a warm, bright indoor location if grown in temperate zones.

Kalanchoe ‘Pink Butterflies’ is a highly decorative and conversation-starting succulent perfect for containers, sunny patios, or indoor windowsills. Its fluttering pink accents make it a unique addition to any succulent collection, though it’s a bit more of a “showpiece” than a propagation powerhouse. With proper care, it will reward you with vertical beauty and a vivid splash of pink!🌸🪴

So sweet
Format: Kindle
It’s so unexpectedly sweet that it sneaks up on you. Each character is so unique and charming. I love the openness and honesty among their pack. It really blows me away how wonderful this omegaverse trope plays out. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Needs editing
Format: Kindle
Cute storyline and promising characters, but the lack of editing is painful to read. I would love to read an edited version.

A good read
Format: Kindle
A good read, just fluffy cuteness, no antagonism. I like all the characters. It could have used another round of editing however, glanfds being one error that cracked me up, and my personal pet peeve was that the author kept using the word fill instead of feel, which I promise you are not interchangeable haha, but it's definitely better than the majority of books I read on here mistake-wise.

amazing
Format: Kindle
Knot the Bride was a fantastic read! The characters were all amazing and well-developed. It was easy to like them all. Sophia, Luca, Nick, and Gavin were all perfect for each other. It was such a charming story that had me hooked the entire time. I did wish there were POVs from Luca, Nick, and Gavin but it was still an amazing book without it. I am excited to read the next book in the Willowside Omegaverse series! This is definitely a must-read for fans of omegaverse romance!. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

3 Star Read,
Format: Kindle
This book wasn't bad, but wasn't my cup of tea. It's highly disappointing because the storyline is so original. There is no real conflict or resolution, so the entire thing feels flat. As a lover of omegaverse books, I know there is a ton of variety out there, and ov is really up to the author. But this one is weird. Omegas have multiple scent glands all over their bodies and go into week long heats every month. Alphas have knots in the middle of their shaft instead of the base, and the knot doesn't always swell, no explanation of when or why. It doesn't engage at all when the mouth is in play. I also didn't enjoy the author's writing style. Each paragraph is only 1 or 2 sentences long, and the entire book reads very stacato. The conversations are stiff and unnatural feeling. Everything is very repetitive, both in word choice and in thought. The same thing is repeated 3 or 4 times over a single page, multiple times over. I ended up doing so much skimming. The first 50% of the book is all slow burn, and the last 50% is almost straight mediocre spice. This wouldn't have been all bad if the grammar and spelling errors didn't start at the exact same time. Tongue is repeatedly misspelled in the middle of the spice.
